Matías Herrero es un artista visual y escultor radicado en Buenos Aires, Argentina. De formación mayormente autodidacta.

Sobre su últimos trabajos ha recibido la siguiente crítica:

Retratar el país que duele equivale a algo más que a una audacia. Porque ahí hay vacío y ruptura, engaño e impotencia, ilusiones rotas y traiciones. ¿Cómo se pinta tanto dolor sin desbarrancar en el drama? Difícil es retratar el país que duele. Matías Herrero dibuja la cosa desde adentro y recurre al humor: noble herramienta. Con ella y alguna percepción más que construye el entorno, desarrolla su propuesta crítica.

Y en verdad lo hace con efecto. Con efecto y justicia. Porque sin nombrar a nadie, nombra a todos los de nuestra realidad contemporánea. Y sin ponerles grillos, los encadena con la imagen. Pone a todos los políticos en la licuadora y encarcela en la osamenta al vendedor artero de reses. Se regocija ante los hinchas desorientados y pide salvación diaria para los viajeros amontonados de los transportes . ¿Y los sindicalistas que se devoran a sí mismos? El repertorio es vasto, y Matías Herrero lo sabe y asume con su linea ágil, aguda, penetrante. Todo un desafío, que asume.

Matías Herrero is a visual artist and sculptor based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With a largely self-taught background, it would be difficult to trace a route of studies training. 

Regarding his last works, the critic says:

Portraying the country that hurts amounts to more than audacity. Because there is emptiness and rupture, deceit and helplessness, broken illusions and betrayals. How do you paint so much pain without falling into drama? It is difficult to portray the country that hurts. Matías Herrero draws the thing from the inside and appeals humor: a noble tool. With it and some extra perception that builds the environment, he develops hiscritical proposal.

And it really does it with impact. With impact and justice. Because without naming anyone, he names them all of our contemporary reality. And without shackles, he chains them with the image. He puts all the politicians in the blender and imprisons the arterous meat salesman in the bones. He rejoices in the face of disoriented fans and asks for daily salvation for travelers piled up in transport. And the trade unionists who devour themselves? The repertoire is vast, and Matías Herrero knows it and assumes with his agile, sharp, penetrating line. A challenge, he assumes.
